Thinking about Longevity Living?

Here are the things people most often want to know
Your Questions, Answered

01

What is Shared Living?

Shared Living is a modern way of living where a carefully selected group of people with complementary interests and habits share a beautiful home while enjoying their own private space. Residents benefit from community, companionship and a lifestyle designed to enhance wellbeing and reduce isolation.

02

Who is Shared Living suitable for?

Shared Living is ideal for people who value connection, community and quality of life. Residents may include professionals, people relocating, those looking for a stronger sense of belonging, or individuals seeking a more social and fulfilling way of living.

03

Will I have my own bedroom?

Yes. Every resident has a private bedroom and, where available, an en-suite or dedicated bathroom. Your private space is always respected.

04

Are residents carefully matched?

Absolutely. Compatibility is one of the most important aspects of Shared Living. This does not mean everyone is exactly similar but rather that their personalities and ways of living will blend together well for a cohesive household. We take time to understand your lifestyle, interests, routines and preferences to help ensure a positive living experience for everyone.

05

Can I view the property before applying?

Yes. We encourage prospective residents to attend a viewing, meet the household where appropriate and ask any questions before making a decision.

06

What is included in my monthly fee?

This varies by property but may typically include fully furnished accommodation, utilities, broadband or Wi-Fi, Council Tax where applicable, maintenance and repairs, access to shared amenities, and community activities or events. A detailed breakdown will be provided before you sign an agreement.

07

How are residents selected?

We operate a careful matching process that enables people to state their preferences and their needs. We are looking for people who will contribute positively to the community and respect fellow residents. Prospective residents will be invited to have a discussion with one of our team and will be asked about their lifestyle, routine, interests and preferences. This will include how you feel about sharing cooking, meals, social gatherings and your needs around personal space. You will then be matched with other compatible people. There may be a mix of ages and genders or not depending on the preferences of residents.

08

Is this the same as a house share?

No. Shared Living is designed around community, lifestyle and resident compatibility. It offers a more curated, supportive and premium living experience than a traditional house share.

09

Can I have guests?

Yes. We understand that friends and family are important. Guest policies vary by property but are designed to balance socialising with respect for other residents. A house charter will be agreed amongst all the housemates and regularly reviewed. This will include the agreed decisions on guests staying.

10

What if I do not know anyone?

That is perfectly normal. Most residents join independently. Shared Living creates opportunities to build friendships naturally through everyday interactions and community activities.

11

What happens if there is a disagreement between residents?

We encourage open communication and mutual respect. Where needed, our team can help facilitate conversations and provide guidance to ensure the household remains a positive environment for everyone. A house charter will be agreed amongst all the housemates and regularly reviewed. This will include methods of communication about disagreements, house meetings and how to resolve conflict should it arise. The charter with agreements on chores, quiet periods in the house and sharing of provisions should reduce disagreements at a later stage.

12

Who decides the house rules?

The residents will agree a house charter that includes house rules. We will provide a framework for this charter and support for discussions but it will be for the residents themselves to agree what is included and how it is implemented.

13

Is Shared Living safe?

Safety is a priority. All residents undergo an application process, and homes are professionally managed and maintained. Everyone will be expected to submit three references and to give consent for referees to be spoken to if required.

14

Can I work from home?

Many of our residents do. Some properties may provide dedicated workspace or quiet areas suitable for remote working.

15

Are pets allowed?

This depends on the property. If pets are permitted, this will be clearly stated in the property listing.

16

What makes Shared Living different?

Residents often choose Shared Living because they want more meaningful social connections, a sense of belonging, improved wellbeing, security and companionship, a premium lifestyle experience, and a home rather than simply a room.

17

How long can I stay?

We welcome both medium and long-term residents. Many people stay for extended periods because they value the relationships and lifestyle that Shared Living provides. We recommend a minimum stay of six months and there would be a notice period required for people who wish to move on.

18

What is the application process?

The usual journey includes submitting an application, completing a discovery call, attending a viewing, taking part in a compatibility assessment, receiving an offer to join the community and moving into your new home. This may be able to happen over two to three weeks but it may take longer if we are awaiting a suitable property or other residents.

19

What if I am accepted but there is no suitable room available?

Applicants may be invited to join our Founding Residents Collection, an exclusive priority list offering early access to future Shared Living opportunities as they become available.

20

Is there a waiting list?

Rather than a traditional waiting list, we operate a Priority Resident Register. This allows us to match applicants with future homes and communities that best suit their lifestyle and preferences.

21

Why do people choose Shared Living?

Common reasons include wanting companionship without sacrificing independence, reducing loneliness, enjoying a greater sense of community, living in high-quality accommodation, sharing experiences and activities with others, and creating a more fulfilling and connected lifestyle.

22

What does it cost?

Costs vary by property and location. Your monthly fee covers far more than a room, typically including furnishings, utilities, broadband, Council Tax where applicable, maintenance and access to shared amenities. We will always give you a full written breakdown before you are asked to commit to anything.

23

Am I too old for this?

No. Across Europe, many of the people living this way most happily are in their sixties, seventies and eighties. Our residents range widely in age, and households are matched on how people live rather than how old they are. Some houses are deliberately mixed in age, others are not, depending on what residents themselves prefer.

24

Will I be expected to look after anyone, or be looked after?

No. This is not care and it is not caretaking. Every resident lives independently and nobody is responsible for anybody else. The household adds to each person's life without anyone leaning on anyone.

25

What if I move in and it is not right for me?

We work hard to avoid this, which is why matching happens before anything is signed and why you will meet your potential household first. If circumstances change, a notice period applies and our team will support you through the move. Nobody is trapped anywhere.

26

What happens to the information I share with you?

We use it for one purpose, which is to match you well. It is never sold and never shared with third parties. You can ask us what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it entirely at any point.

27

Do I have to join in?

Only if you want to. Shared meals, house gatherings and community activities are always an invitation, never an expectation. Some residents are in the kitchen most evenings, others keep to themselves for weeks at a time, and both are entirely normal.
